Blackrock AC annual cross-country races 2016

Hats off to all the Glenmore athletes who turned up for Blackrock AC annual cross-country races on a foggy, wet Sunday in Haggardstown. First up to don the green and white colours of Glenmore was Zoe White who sprinted home 2nd in the U7 girls race. U9 Girls Emma McCarragher & Jessica White continued the winning streak coming in 2nd & 3rd whilst Christopher Conlon stepped up to the mark in U9 Boys. Lucy White, Anna Dawson, Chloe McCarragher & Sarah Mallon represented the club in U11 Girls event and won bronze team medals.

In U11 Boys race Fionn O’Reilly ran the race of his life coming individual 3rd followed by Conor Fitzgerald, Shane Gallagher & Cormac McCoy, the boys earned silver team medals. Laoise McElroy led the Glenmore girls team home followed by Lisa Conlon, Ava Brady & Blathnaid Murphy earning them silver team medals. Oisin Fitzgerald represented the club with a gutsy run in U13 boys event. Anna McArdle ran a valiant race in U15 winning the silver individual medal. Niall Brady came home 3rd in U15 Boys with Daragh, his brother, flat on his heels. Katie Mallon fought bravely & earned silver individual followed by Maeve White in 3rd individual place & Ellen Barry thus securing them gold team medals. In boys U17 Eoghan O’ Connor had a strong run coming 2nd whilst Sinead McErlane earned bronze medal with Hannah Stewart closely following in U19 Girls.

Gavin White ran a fast 2.5km representing Glenmore in the Fit for Life event. Well done to all & thanks to Blackrock AC for hosting an enjoyable event as ever. We are looking forward to next weeks Ras na hEireann event in Oldbridge on Sunday.
