GLENMORE AC REPORT AUGUST 28

On Sunday last, our athletes travelled to Ardee to compete in the final track and field event of 2016. A full programme of events was sheduled.

First on the track for the sprints were our U8 girls in the 80m, Roisin Daly and Zoe White made the final with Roisin claiming the silver medal. Jessica White claimed the silver medal in the U9 girls 80m. Lucy White and Orlaith Daly both finished first in their heats with Lucy claiming the gold and Orlaith the bronze in the U11 100m final. Ava Brady ran a solid race in the U12 100m. Nicole Barry finished just outside the medals in the girls U14 100m final. Katelyn Quinn won the gold medal in a tight finish in the girls U16 100m. Daragh Brady also claimed the gold medal in his U14 100m final. Boys U15 100m had seen a tight final with Niall Brady 2nd, Eoin McCann 3rd and Ciaran Flynn just outside the medals. Finishing off a great days of sprint performances Craig Kane and Joseph Peters both claimed gold in U16 & U19 respectively.

Meanwhile in the field events Jessica White and Lucy White both finished 3rd in their U9 & U11 Long Jump.

Next to the distance races, first up again were our U8 girls, Roisin Daly and Zoe White competing strongly. Jessica White claimed the silver medal in the U9 event. U11 girls Lucy White, Orlaith Daly & Sarah Mallon finished strong in the 600m, Lucy finishing 3rd. Ava Brady led out the girls in the U12 800m finishing strong and claiming the silver medal. Anna Mc Ardle finished 2nd in the U14 girls 800m closely followed by Nicole Barry. Daragh Brady ran well finishing 4th in the boys U14 event. Our U15 boys, Niall Brady, Ciaran Flynn & Eoin Mc Cann ran very well in the 1500m just missing out on medal. Craig Kane finished 4th in the boys U16. Katie Mallon ran a great race finishing 1st in the U16 girls 1500m. Hannah Stewart finished 4th in the U19 1500m.

Katelyn Quinn won gold in the long jump with a PB. 4.73

The day finished with the relays. Jessica White combined with other athletes and won silver in the U9 relay. Our U11 girl’s Orlaith Daly and Lucy White combined with the Brennan sisters from Dunleer and claimed the gold medal. Anna Mc Ardle won bronze in a combined team. An U15 Glenmore team of Niall and Daragh Brady and Eoin Mc Cann & Ciaran Flynn took the gold in their relay. Another combined team of Katie Mallon, Katelyn Quinn, Craig Kane and Donnacha Hughes from Blackrock finished 2nd in the final relay of the day.
