Glenmore Report 14th September 2015
Anna McArdle came 2nd in U13 Girls race in Ardee on Sunday 5th September whilst Kenneth McBride represented Glenmore in the Seamie Weldon 5km afterwards.
Michael McShane also ran in Newry that Sunday, bagging a new PB in the 10km. During the week sisters Shobhain and Anne Marie Rice ran the 5km SOSAD in Dundalk.
Meanwhile juveniles are training Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as an extra session on Sundays in preparation for the upcoming Cross-Country season which commences with the Star of the Sea meet on September 27th.
On Saturday last the 12th September, the now well-travelled Glenmore seniors, made their way to Sligo for the Wild Atlantic Run:Kenneth McBride, John Doyle , Gavin White, Gerry McAlinden, Kinga Byrne, Sarah Quinn, Gerry Stewart, Joan Farnon, Paddy Gill, Rose White, Laura Hoey, Marie O’Connor & Vicky leahy. Well done to all on a tough but enjoyable race from Strandhill to Rosses Point with a mixed terrain of dunes, beach & forest trails. Gerry McAlinden was 2nd in the O60 category with Kenneth McBride & Joan Farnon both coming 3rd in their respective categories. All were happy with the beautiful medals adorned with the line from Yeats poem The Stolen Child “Come away o human child to the waters & the wild”. A special word of thanks to our devoted supporters Teressa Quinn, Maeve White, Katelyn Gill, all the Gallagher & Doyle clans & ,of course, Neil Farnon who ferried coats & bags & even ended up assisting at the water stops. As usual, the social side was adventurous as ever and everyone made it home, eventually! The group are already looking forward to the next away trip, wherever it may be.
