Weekly report inc Leinster Cross Country – Nov 2015
|The weekend passed in a flurry of activity for Glenmore Ac. Friday night saw the annual fundraising quiz in Fergusons Bar, Gyles Quay. As ever, this proved to be not only a social success, but also raised over 1,100 Euro. We are, as ever, grateful to all members, coaches, mentors, sponsors and all who supported us on the night and throughout the year. It is the community aspect that permits this club to thrive. We would also like to thank all who provided food , Fergusons for their donation to the club & the ever pleasant team of quizmaster Tony, Aileen & sidekick Eilish. Congratulations to the winning team who donated their prize back to the club, thank you, you know who you are!!
On Sunday Gerry Stewart represented the seniors in the Forkhill 10km, another hilly venture for Gerry! Seven valiant Glenmore juveniles made the trip to New Ross for the uneven age Leinster cross country competition. U11 Girls Lisa Conlon and Ava Brady came in strongly with Lisa being part of the Louth county team which came 4th. Next up were Laoise McElroy, Anna McArdle, Nicole Barry & Katie Conlon who battled through rain, muck & wind to represent their club amongst the best in Leinster. Tadhg Leahy, once again, ploughed a lonely furrow and represented Glenmore in U17 Boys, he completed his 5,000m in a time of 19.13. Well done to all, ye acquitted yourselves well.
Meanwhile, everybody is looking forward to next Sunday the 15th . The Juvenile races, U9-U19 will start at 12pm with the annual 6km road race starting at 1pm sharp. The registration is 10 Euro on the day from 10am. This race is always popular and has an Olympic style atmosphere with a lap of the track to finish! Hope to see you all there.
