Chairman’s Address

Ba bhreá linn fáilte a chur roimh gach éinne d’oscailt an raon reathaíochta thacair ar an 27u lá Meitheamh, 2008.

Táimid an-bhrodúil fáilte a chur romhaibh d’oscailt an raon tacair seo.

Glenmore A.C. is now unrecognisable from its first race in Dundalk on the 25th of October, 1970. In the past 38 years there have been many club winners and successes. .The synthetic track is now a reality attributed to members efforts in the realisation of this dream. Future success depends upon winning competitions and ensuring every member of the community has the opportunity to use our fine facilities.

The club is most grateful for the support received from local businesses, which have long supported us and continue to do so in the form of the advertising surrounding the perimeter of the track. National Lottery played a huge role as the main source of funding, with significant funding also coming from the CLAR and Peace 2 task force which recognised the potential for this facility to provide quality training for athletes from both sides of the border. Many thanks to club members, helpers and athletes who raised funds locally to ensure the club meets its weekly running costs.

Special thanks to present and past staff of Bush Post Primary and the VEC, with whom we have developed an effective partnership to ensure that students and the youth of the area are given the best possible chance to excel. Special recognition most go to all those who worked on the construction of the track including the many volunteers, local contractors and Swords Sports and Leisure.

As club chairman, it gives me great satisfaction to see the club in a stronger position, both in terms of our excellent facilities and the young athletes we have competing at a very high level. It is important that the club does not become complacent and continues to build for the future.
