Setanta Games 2015

Senior Glenmore athletes have been busy during July with Shane Toner coming 2nd in Oldcastle 5km, husband and wife team Tony and Sharon Mulligan did the Fingal 10km with Sharon getting a PB .On Thursday the 23rd athletes took part in the Louth senior & masters Track & Field championships in Drogheda. Kinga Byrne came home 2nd lady in the Fit for Life mile followed by teammates Vicky Leahy & Marie O’Connor. Next up was Ciaran Walsh who ran in the 100m , came 2nd in 200m 040, he also came 2nd in 400m. In the 3000m Lorraine McCann came 2nd in senior with Rose White coming 1st in her category. Shane Toner won the senior category in 3000m. On Saturday Shane came home 2nd in the Blayney Rockets 10 mile with Stephen O’Connor also participating. Laura Hoey represented the club in the Rostrevor womens mini marathon 10km with a time of 55.05.

Juvenile athletes had a great time at the Fun night on Tuesday 21st July with obstacle games, ice cream & an opportunity to soak their coaches! The club then presented the Maria Goretti foundation with a cheque of 1,444 Euros raised from our 10 mile Challenge in June. Photo gallery.

The Setanta Games took place on Saturday the 25th at Bush track on a dry day! Well done to all our juvenile athletes who competed. Aine Gallagher, Aine O’Reilly, Sophie Cumisky, Cora Rice all ran in the U8 sprints. Katie McDonald won bronze in the final followed in 4th by Emma McCarragher & Jessica White. Cian McGee won the U8 boys final. Tara White & Dearbhla McBride ran well in the U9 sprint with Dualta O’Neill coming 4th in the boys race. Lucy White won the U10 girls sprint accompanied by teammates Chloe McCarragher, Orlaith Daly, Aoife McGee and Jenna Rice. James McBride & Cian McGuinness participated in the U11 boys sprint whilst Shaun Quinn came 4th in the U12 boys race with Millie Rice getting through to the U12 sprint final. Ava Brady & Lisa Conlon represented the club in the girls U12 sprint. U13 girls were represented in the sprints by Ciara Carolan who stormed home 1st with Anna McArdle, Breanna Savage, Nicole Barry, Katie Conlon & Trinity Larkin. Daragh Brady came hme 4th in U13 boys sprint with his brother Niall winning silver in the U14 sprint and teammate James McArdle coming 4th. Katelyn Quinn came 3rd in U15 sprint and Chloe Barry gained bronze in the U16 race whilst Richard Campbell won gold in the boys U15 sprint.

In the long jump Ciara Quinn earned bronze in U14 with Chloe Barry winning gold in the U16 long jump and Katelyn Quinn silver along with Maeve White who also represented the club. In U10 girls long jump Glenmore was represented by Lucy White, 2nd, Chloe McCarragher, 4th, Aoife McGee, Orlaith Daly & Jenna Rice, these girls also took part in the U11 turbo Javelin event. Niall Brady was 3rd in U14 Boys long jump. Diarmuid O’ Neill won gold in the U15 shotputt.

 

In the 500m event Anna McArdle came 1st for U13 Girls followed by Katie Conlon, 3rd, Nicole Barry & Trinity Larkin. Ciara Quinn claimed 4th in the U14 event, whilst Niall Brady & James McArdle came 2nd and 3rd in the U14 boys 500m, daragh Brady came 4th in the U13 Boys. Millie Rice represented the club in the U12 girls race and Oisin Fitzgerald came 4th in the U12 Boys event. Richard Campbell stepped up to the mark again gaining silver in the U15 800m.

U11 girls Lisa Conlon & Ava Brady came 4th & 5th in the 300m with James McBride & Cian McGuinness representing the club in the Boys U11 event.

In the 200m events Emma McCarragher led home U8 girls to win gold followed by Jessica White, 3rd, Katie cDonald & Aine O’Reilly. Tara White & Dearbhla McDonald ran strongly in the U9 200m. Lucy White, 3rd, Orlaith daly, 4th, Chloe McCarrager & Aoife McGee all ran in U 10 200m with Fionn O’Reilly running the Boys event.

The relays finished off the days events and were, as ever, very excting.

The following are the Glenmore teams:

U9 Girls: Tara White, Katie McDonald, Jessica White, Emma McCarragher won silver medals.

U11 Girls: Lisa Conlon, Orlaith Daly, Chloe McCarragher, Lucy White won gold medals

U11: Caitlin Savage, Aoife McGee, Ava Brady, Jenna Rice.

U13: Anna McArdle, Nicole Barry, Katie Conlon, Ciara Carolan won silver medals

U13: Breanna Savage, Trinity Larkin, Millie Rice.

U15 Boys: niall brady, James McArdle, Diarmaid O’Neill & Richard Campbell won gold.

U11 Boys: James McBride, Cian McGuinness, Fionn O’Reilly.

U13 : Enda O’ Neill, Daragh Brady, Shaun Quinn, Oisin Fitzgerald won bronze.

Ciara and Katelyn Quinn participated in U15 mixed relay team.

Juvenile training is taking a break until 19th August. We would like to encourage all juveniles and seniors to participate in our annual Michael Fearon & Kevin Marron 5km road race at 8pm on Friday August 7th in Carlingford. Juvenile programme begins at 7 with road race at 8pm.
