U10 Glenmore Girls do their club proud at All-Ireland Finals

On Saturday 27th June, Day 1 of the National Track & Field Championships took place in Tullamore. Four of our youngest athletes were thrilled to qualify for the u10 girls 4x100m relay following their silver in the Leinsters.

The team made up of Anna Dawson, Orlaith Daly, Chloe Mc Carragher and Lucy White took to the track for their semifinal with great determination. After a tough, fast semi, the girls qualified and were raring to go for an exciting final.

From the gun, Anna flew around the first bend with a gutsy first leg to a waiting Orlaith who stormed down the back straight. She then passed the baton safely as usual to speedy Chloe. Chloe raced around the final bend in style to hand over to reliable Lucy on the anchor leg. Lucy fought hard down the home straight and the girls came home a fantastic 5th place among Ireland’s best.

Credit to these four girls who never stop smiling and laughing but yet have put so much hard work into their preparation for the National Championships. This clearly showed on Saturday when they displayed wonderfully smooth baton changes and brilliant team work. The club and coaches are so proud of these four friends who we know for certain can only get stronger. Well done girls!

Congtrats also to senior athletes who competed in the Alzeihemers Green 5km in Lordship the previous weekend: Michael McShane, Llyod Byrne, Lorraine Gillespie & Melissa McCoy.

John Kane & Paul Savage were busy with a tough course in the Gaelforce North competition this weekend.

Juvenile training continues every Tuesday & Thursday from 7-8pm & senior sessions on Mondays & Wednesdays.
