Easter Report 2015
|Glenmore juvenile athletes were out in force for the Mountpleasant Road races on a sunny bank holiday Monday. First up were U6 Girls led home by Roisin Daly, 1st, followed by Sophie Cumisky & Zoe White. Emma McCarragher led the U8 girls home in 2nd position closely followed by Jessica White, 4th, Katie McDonald, Aine O’Reilly, Grace Keenan & Aine Gallagher. Orlaith Daly was first girl home for Glenmore in 3rd position with Saoirse McBride, Chloe Mccarragher, Aoife McGee & Lia Grey. Fionn O’Reilly had a great race coming home 4th in U10 Boys followed by Shane Gallagher. Lisa Conlon led the U12 Glenmore Girls home with Ava brady, breanna Savage & Caoimhe McBride making up the team. Oisin Fitzgerald won 5th place medal in U12 Boys with Sean Mccarragher & James Mcbride. Anna McArdle came in 5th in U14 girls with Erin Grey on her heels.Whilst Niall Brady came 4th in U14 boys followed by brother Daragh. Maeve White represented the club in U16 girls race coming home 4th.
The club was well represented in the 5km, in the U17 age group Hannah Stewart came home first girl and Tadhg Leahy 2nd boy with a PB. Paul Savage was first home for Glenmore in 19th position followed by Tony Mulligan, Kenneth McBride, Gavin White & Michael McShane. On Saturday, Lorraine McCann ran a 10 miler in Co. Donegal having run her first half marathon 2weeks previously whilst Gerry Stewart ran the Battle of Clontarf 10 miler on Monday morning having been part of the crew who represented Glenmore in the Warsaw half marathon the Sunday previous.
The Glenmore senior athletes’ trip to the Warsaw half marathon on the 29th March has proved such a success that we are already preparing for next year’s trip! Pat Ferguson, Gerry Stewart, Gavin White, Karen Neary, Ali McEnhill, Kinga Byrne, Deirdre Woods, Sarah Quinn, Rose White, Laura hoey, Paddy Gill, Anne McEvoy, Eilis McGuigan and Vicky Leahy were proud to wear the singlet amongst 17,000 other half marathoners with supporters extraordinaire Teressa Quinn & Kingas family cheering us on. Amidst music, great Polish support and hospitality the group thoroughly enjoyed the experience not to mention the football match & disco dancing that followed! A special word of thanks to Kinga and all her family looking after us so well in their fascinating home city.
