Louth Juvenile Championships – Track & Field 2018

The Louth Juvenile Championships took place over the weekend in perfect conditions for both competitors and supporters alike.

Glenmore got the weekend off to a great start on Friday evening in the Lourdes Stadium Drogheda, and had continued success at Bush on Saturday and Sunday. Plenty of talent from the county was on display and competition was tough. U11 girls took 7 heats and 3 semi finals to decide on the final qualifiers in the 60m event with many other ages averaging on up to 5 heats.

Gillian Tuohy topped the club poll with 5 medals over the weekend, 1st in the U9 relay, 2nd in U9 long jump, and 3rd in the 60m, 300m and Javelin. Other medal winners were as follows: Zoe White 1st in the U9 60m and 1st in U9 300m. Roisin Daly was 2nd in the U10 60m and Molly Ann Moore was 2nd in the long jump and 3rd in the U10 500m. Katie Mc Donald was 3rd in the U11 60m and long jump. Lucy White was 1st in the U13 60m Hurdles and 80m sprint and 2nd in theU13 long jump. Chloe Mc Carragher was 2nd in the U13 shot putt. Lisa Conlon took 3rd in the U14 60m hurdles, 1st in the 800m, and 1st in the 1500m. Shaun Quinn was 1st in the U14 shot putt. Nicole Barry was 3rd in the U16 100m, and 1st in the long jump. Zofia Mullen was 3rd in the U15 800m and 2nd in the 1500m. Anna Mc Ardle was 3rd in the U15 1500m and Katie Conlon 2nd in the U15 800m and 2nd in the 200m. Daragh Brady was 1st in both the U15 100m and 200m. Eoin Mc Cann was 3rd in the U17 100m and Ciaran Flynn 1st in the U17 1500m. Anna Mai Mullen was 2nd in both the U19 100m and 400m. Katie Mallon was 3rd in the U19 400m. Katelyn Quinn took 1st in U19 Javelin. Craig Kane was 2nd in the U19 Shot putt. Gerard White was 2nd in the U19 400m.

Both Days concluded with relays, Glenmore teams taking medals were the U9 girls taking gold, Aine Finnegan, Gillian Tuohy, Aoife Mc Donald and Zoe White. U10 girls also took gold, Rosin Daly, Molly Anne Moore, Sarah Murphy and Sarah Duffy. Also claiming gold were the U11 girls, Grace Keenan, Katie Mc Donald, Emma Mc Carargher and Jessica White. Boys U11 took bronze medals, Elliot Nichols, Cian Magee, Christopher Conlon and Craig Tuohy. U13 girls took silver, Anna Dawson, Orlaith Daly, Chloe Mc Carragher & Lucy White. U16 girls Zofia Mullen, Nicole Barry, Anna Mc Ardle& Katie Conlon also took gold. U19 boys finished the weekend’s events with gold, Craig Kane, Gerard White, Ciaran Flynn and Eoin Mc Cann.

Well done to all Glenmore athletes who competed across the weekend in all events. Strong competitors representing the club albeit outside the medals were: Emily Connolly, Holly Mc Cann, Daniel Bothwell, Jack Ives, Sophie Cummiskey, Ronan Dunne, Mario Gaztambide, Ella Connolly, Eimear Finnegan, Laeh Dunne, Aine O Reilly, Blathnaid Kelleher, Ruby Steeples, Aoife Keenan, Claire Byrne, Aine Gallagher, Mia Ashby, Fionnuala Moore, Ava Ashby, Sarah Mallon, Aoife Magee, Megan Steeples, Fionn Reilly, Shane Gallagher, Emily Tuohy, Caludia Mullen, James Dunne, Tom Elvin and Blanaid Murphy.

Training continues on Tuesday and Thursday at Bush track.
