It was a busy weekend for Glenmore athletes competing at the Louth Championships. On Friday evening a group travelled to the Lourdes Stadium Drogheda in the first of the weekend activities. Katelyn Quinn took gold medal in the U17 Javelin, Shot Putt, high jump and Long Jump. Shaun Quinn was first in the U14 Shot Putt and 3rd in the Javelin. Diarmuid O Neill was 1st in the boys U17 Javelin. Katie Mallon was 1st in the high jump girls U17. Meave White took silver in the U17 Shot. Glenmore boys Niall Brady and Justin O Hagan were 1st and 3rd in the U16 Long Jump. Caoilin Traynor took gold in the U19 boys Shot Putt. Richard Campbell finished 3rd in the U17 high jump. In the hurdle events Niall Brady was 1st in the U16 boys and Richard Campbell was 2nd in the boys U17 event.

On Saturday and Sunday the action moved to the Bush track. First up were the U9 girls Sophie Cummiskey and Sarah Duffy both running well. The U9 boys were represented by Oisin Mc Coy, Eion Mc Intyre and Mario Liam Gaztambide. Katie Mc Donald finished 1st in the 80m U10 girls final with Jessica White, Emma Mc Carragher, Grace Keenan, Minnatulla Lennon, Aine O Reilly, Ella Connolly, Aoife Keenan, Aine Gallagher, Ruby Steeples, Leah Dunne and Emma O Connor competing well in their heats. Cian Magee was 3rd in the U10 sprint with Craig Touhy also making the U10 boys final with Christopher Conlon, Sam Elvin, Josh Mc Ateer, and Elliot Nichols making up the Glenmore squad. U11 girls and boys Ellen Callan, Mia Ashby, Ciara Boyle, Sean Holland and Aaron Hanratty ran well in their heats. Lucy white took gold in the girls U12 80M with Ava Ashby, Aoife Magee, Megan Steeples, Chloe Mc Carragher, Sarah Mallon and Anna Dawson running strong heats. Fionn Reilly, Shane Gallagher and Aaron o Connor represented the U12 boys. U13 girls and boys Lisa Conlon, Emily Touhy, Ava Brady, James Dunne, Ethan Canavan, Tom Elvin and Cillian Keenan competed well in the heats. U14 girls Blainaid Murphy and Cliodha Steeples ran strong heats. Katie Conlon and Nicole Barry ran the U15 100m, Katie making the final. Darragh Brady finished 2nd in the U15 boys 100m and 200m with Ethan Duffy competing also. Niall Brady took silver in the U16 sprint, Eoin McCann running strong in his heat. Niall Brady then took gold in the U16 200m. Katelyn Quinn took silver medal in the U17 100m, Richard Campbell also taking silver in the boys U17 100m and 200m, Adam Connolly and Craig Kane competing well. Katelyn Quinn was 2nd in the U17 100m, Hannah Stewart was 2nd in the 100m U19 girls and then finished the day with two gold positions in the 400m and 800m events. Katie Mallon taking two silver medals in the same distances U17 and gold in the 1500m . Katie Conlon ran a solid 800m in the U15 girls and took the gold medal, and then silver in the 1500m on Sunday. U16 boys Ciaran Flynn and Justin O Hagan took silver and bronze in the boys U16 1500m event. Tadhg Leahy was second in the boys U19 1500m.

In the field events Katie Mc Donald took her second gold medal in the U10 long jump and Grace Keenan taking bronze in the same event. Jessica White took bronze in the U10 javelin. Chloe Mc Carragher took the gold medal in the U12 javelin and Ava Ashby the bronze in the U12 shot putt. Elliot Nichols finished 3rd in the U10 boys Long Jump. Cillian Keenan was 3rd in the U13 shot putt.

Glenmore competed well across all ages with multiple teams in the relay events over the weekend. Girls U 10 took gold medal position, the boys taking silver U10. The U12 girls took silver and boys U16 and U17 won gold.

It was a very successful weekend display from all our athletes with many now progressing to the Lenister finals. Well done to everyone who competed and to our supporters over the weekend.

Well done to Glenmore athletes who competed in the North Leinster Schools event last Wednesday, Katelyn Quinn 3rd in the Long Jump, Katie Mallon who ran in the 800m, Maeve White in the long jump, Richard Campbell 200m, Tadhg Leahy 5000m, Katie Conlon 3rd in 800m, and the boys relay team of Niall Brady, Craig Kane, Eoin Mc Cann and Richard Campbell.

Well done to all our senior and junior club members who completed the Cooley Coast Run 5K and 10K at the weekend. Paul Savage won the 5K and Shane Toner was second in the 10K. Plenty of PB’s recorded on the night.
