Kearney & McBride Cup 2017
|RESULTS – Glenmore Results 15 Oct 2017
On Sunday the 15 th October the Kearney & McBride Cup 5km took place at 1pm. 99 runners Registered and battled it out from outside Bush school round Maguire’s Cross, Willville amongst other townlands and back for a final lap of the track. There was an exciting finish duel between Sean Doran, Clonliffe harriers 1st and Shane Toner, 2 nd Glenmore AC whilst Brian McCluskey followed them closely in 3 rd . The first three women home were Debbie Matchett, Ballydrain, 2nd Dearbhla Greene, NER and 3 rd Lorraine Dunne, NER.
Glenmore AC mens team of Shane Toner, Shane Lynch and Ciaran Walsh came home 2 nd team with North East winning the Kearney Cup with Brian McCluskey, Declan Toal & Maurice McMahon. In the ladies competition for the McBride Cup Glenmore were 2 nd team with Fiona McQuade, Sarah Dooney and Kinga Byrne whilst North East Runners won the Cup for another year with Dearbhla Greene, Lorraine Dunne & Anne Marie Duffy. O45 male category was won by Declan Toal, NER 2 nd Paul Blanet, Beechount Harriers, 3 rd Shane Larkin, Drogheda & District. 045 female category was won by host clubs Fiona McQuade, 2 nd Sarah Dooney also Glenmore and 3 rd Martina McSkelly, Bohermeen.
O55 male category was won by Patrick O’ Grady, Drogheda & district, 2 nd Gerry O’Connell, Marino Institute of Education & 3 rd John Patience, North Belfast. 055 female category was won by Linda Gunning, Bohermeen, 2 nd Nuala Reilly, Drogheda & district, 3 rd Isolde Goggins, Carlingford.

The 5K was preceded by the juvenile programme with an array of clubs competing from Meath, Kildare, Down, Armagh, Monaghan, Antrim and throughout Co Louth. A new course this year proved very successful and it was great to see such huge numbers compete. Prizes were awarded for the 1st 10 athletes in each category, the top 10 athletes were awarded points on this basis also which contributes to the overall club prize on the day, The Johnny Mullen Cup. Boyne AC claimed the cup on the day with very successful results across all ages. Well done to you all.
First up were the girls U9, Meave Smith from Carrick Aces took gold, Chloe Cooney Boyne AC silver and O Mc Ardle Carrick Aces the bronze. Zoe White Glenmore was a top ten finisher. The boys U9 was won by Conor Brennan Dunleer, Bohermeen Athletes Aaron Mc Kenna and Con Brennan took 2nd and 3rd. The girls U11 was won by Grainne Moran St Gerards, Eimear Cooney Boyne AC was second and Tara O Connor St Gerards in 3rd . The boys U11 was won by Shay O Donnell Boyne, Harry Reilly St Peters was second and Daire Mathews Dunleer in 3rd. U13 girls medallists were Lucy Byrne North West Kildare, Eva Cosgrove Boyne and Rebecca Baldwin Blackrock. Ava Brady Glenmore was a top 10 finisher. U 13 boys top 3 were Neil Culhane Boyne, Mark Litchfield St Peters and Odhran Smith Carrick Aces. James Dunne Glenmore was a top 10 finisher. U15 boys was won by Odhran Hamilton Armagh, Callum Sheedy and Christian Quinn from Boyne were 2nd and 3rd respectively. Ella Hynes Armagh took gold in the girls U15 followed by Zofia Mullen Glenmore and Leah Mooney St Gerards. Glenmore girls Anna Mc Ardle, Blanaid Murphy and Katie Conlon all were top 10 finishers. The U17 & 19 girls and boys ran the 3000m course together. Katie Mallon took gold in the U17 girls followed fellow Glenmore athlete Anna Mai Mullen and Roisin Bogie Bohermeen in 3rd and Meave White Glenmore 4th. U17 boys was won by Donnacha Hughes Blackrock, Tadhg Everet Boyne in 2nd and Ciaran Flynn Glenmore in 3rd. Justin O Hagan Glenmore also in the top 10. Caitlin Mullholland took gold in the U19 girls event. Finishing very strongly and taking the gold in the U19 boys was Ryan Sheridan Bohermeen, 2nd was Tadhg Leahy Glenmore and Oscar Rogan Bohermeen was 3rd. Alex O Hagan and Eion O Connoe Glenmore were top 10 finishers also.
