2015 Lenister cross country championships
|15 athletes together with coaches, parents and supporters travelled to Moyvalley Co Meath for the 2015 Lenister cross country championships representing their club and county
First up were the girls U10. This was 1000m non championship race providing invaluable experience to our future athletes. Approx 70 athletes competed with Glenmore included in the medals with Lucy White finishing 10th, followed by Chloe McCarragher and Anna Dawson.
Next up were the U12 girls. 166 competed in this 2000m race Laoise McElroy, Lisa Conlon and Ava Brady competed for the club. Laoise had to withdraw through injury. Lisa and Ava finished strongly with both girls running out of age.
Girls U14 ran 3000m in another huge field of 150 athletes with Anna mcArdle , Katie Conlon, Ciara Quinn & Nicole Barry completing with solid performances in this field
112 athletes competed in the boys U14 event. Great performances by all our athletes in this event with the boys Niall Brady, Sam Dawson, James McArdle and Darragh Brady finishing well.
Finally Katie Mallon our sole representative in the girls U16 4000m in a field of 80 athletes. Well done to everyone today & thanks to bus driver for a safe return journey!
Congrats also to Shane Toner who came home 3rd in the Newry Oktoberfest 5km during the week & to Glenmore senior athletes due to compete in the Dublin City marathon: Stephen o’ Connor, Tony Mulligan, Paul Savage & Ali McEnhill. Juvenile & senior training continues every week with training continuing for the upcoming Uneven age Leinsters. The 0 to 5km programme for registered members is now in its 3rd week so congrats to all for keeping up the pace & to Fiona & the club for all the support. Please note that the Kearney & McBride Cup will now take place on Sunday the 15th November with juvenile races at 12 and senior 6km at 1pm. Registration available on the day from 10am.
