Ras na hEireann 2016
|The last Cross-Country outing of the season took place at the Battle of the Boyne site in Oldbridge on Sunday the 7th February. Ras na hEireann always proves an enjoyable day out and despite the cold Glenmore athletes acquitted themselves admirably. First up were the U9 Girls, Jessica White stole the show & led the field home in 1st place. Teammate Emma McCarragher was hot on her heels in 4th followed by Katie McDonald & Aine O’Reilly, the girls earned themselves gold team medals. Cian McGee was not to be outdone by the girls and stormed home winning a 5th place individual medal in U9 boys. U11 girls team ran strongly with Anna Dawson, Lucy White, Chloe McCarragher & Sarah Mallon. Fionn O’Reilly came home 1st Glenmore U11 boy followed by Shane Gallagher & Cormac McCoy. Laoise McElroy earned an individual medal in 6th place followed closely by Lisa Conlon & Ava Brady. Katie Mallon battled bravely in U17 girls event earning 4th individual place , Tadhg Leahy ran in the junior 6,000km in a credible 2nd junior home. Well done to all.
Athletes are looking forward to the upcoming Track & Field season with training on Tuesdays & Thursdays for all competing.
