County Medals in Monasterboice
|Glenmore AC exhibited some serious girl power at the Louth Cross Country juvenile relay team event on Sunday 2nd November in Monasterboice. The club were delighted to see two excellent all-girls teams stand up to the plate at both U-10 and U-12 level. Runners were relieved to escape the torrential showers from the previous night and wake up to a dry, bright morning and a lovely 500m course, albeit somewhat mucky. First up was the girls U-10 4x500m relay race with Chloe McCarragher, Ava Brady, Lisa Conlon and Lucy White finishing in 2nd team position. Pipped out of the medals but equally determined were a second Glenmore team consisting of Orlaith Daly, Katie McGuinness, Isobel Meehan and Caoimhe McBride. Next up was the Girls U-12 4x500m relay. Katie Conlon, Ciara Carolan, Nicole Barry and Alice Ferguson stormed home in 1st team position. A second Glenmore AC team, consisting of Blathnaid Murphy, Eve Meehan, Brianan McBride and Laoise McElroy, dug deep to put in gritty performances all round, also doing their club proud.
The Senior Men’s 10,000m was a tough race for all with 6 laps over an extremely hilly course. Glenmore AC saw strong performances from Shane Toner, Kenneth McBride, Ciaran Walsh, Patrick White, Paul Savage Gavin White.
Training continues for juveniles on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 7-8pm. Our Fit4Life runners train on Monday’s and Wednesday’s 7-8pm, under floodlights.
